Deliverables
In collaboration with recording artist and performer Macy Rodman, Spa Theory created a virtual reality album, to be released with Macy’s music album, Endless Kindness (think the VR version of Beyonce’s infamous video album). The concept was developed with Spa Theory co-founders and Macy, and garnered an invitation to the first annual XR festival as part of the International Cannes Film Festival.

The Concept
Enter the Macy Rodman Multiverse through browser-based virtual reality. Part immersive music video, part commentary on our consumption of social media personalities, Endless Kindness is a collaboration with the Brooklyn-based artist that explores the relationship between fan and idol. The player’s gaze controls the trajectory of their experience through three distinct virtual planes.
Plane 01 places the player in front row center stage at Macy’s performance on stage at MoMA PS1’s Sunday Session. Plane 02 sees Macy as her fans do, as a super woman on a motorcycle with optional boyfriend and a special turbo mode. Plane 03 allows the player to view Macy’s transcendence from star to icon as a huge bust of Macy watches over a networked, multi-player space in which all players have themselves become Macy avatars.
